Problem-Purpose Statements for Possible Projects

1.     TDICT Project directed by Dr. June Fisher

Problem: Currently available step stool solutions do not meet her needs: some are too tall, others have a stepping area that is too small, and most do not have hand-holds to provide needed balance and stability during reaching. Finally many step stools are heavy and bulky, making them difficult to move and position.

Purpose: Explore designs to provide a safe and stable means of accessing items on upper shelves.

2.     PRRC Project by David Dubinsky

Problem: One of the recreational areas contains a garden that includes a chicken coop as well as a greenhouse, but the area is not “fully accessible.”

Purpose: Transform the existing space to be fully accessible for everyone to enjoy it.

3.     EFF Project

Problem: EFF is represented at various conferences and events annually. At these events, we have an information booth set up where people can come up and learn more about our organization, buy merchandise, and sign up and/or renew memberships.

Purpose: We would like to revamp how the booth is presented in terms of having updated signage and environmental design. This will benefit the team managing the booth as well as improve the visitors booth experience.

4.     CityWrights Collaborative

Project 5B
Problem: New child friendly benches need to be developed.

Purpose: Creatively use interlocking plywood art panels as bases to support 2x6 seats of various lengths, to be painted by kids, and moved by kids around the play yard in the shade.

Project7
Purpose: Design a large fixed Bench Installation of painted interlocking plywood with zero waste, zero fasteners, for one of two locations: community gathering in an oak tree grove or caregiver socializing at tot swing playground.
